Florida Convenience Store Assault Caught on Video
Recent reports have surfaced about an incident involving a Florida man who appeared in surveillance footage throwing a bottle at a store employee. This occurred at the Seven Star Store in Bradley on the evening of August 3rd, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities were called to the scene after an altercation broke out involving the victim and store staff. Upon arrival, deputies found the victim bleeding heavily above his right eye.
It seems the suspect entered the store with a couple of associates and confronted the victim over what he perceived as a glare. Following a verbal exchange, the victim directed the suspect to gather his items and exit the store, a request the suspect did not react well to.
Subsequently, the verbal tirade escalated, with the suspect hurling two unopened two-liter bottles of orange soda at the victim’s head, rendering him unconscious. After this, the suspect and his friends fled the scene.
In the footage, the suspect appears to taunt, “You wouldn’t do it to me, boy!” before the attack took place.
Related: The suspect is identified as Terry Lamar Johnson Jr., a 30-year-old from Mulberry. An arrest warrant has been issued for felony battery against him.
Prior to this incident, Johnson had been in custody back in May for possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license. His criminal record reportedly includes charges for grand theft, aggravated assault, battery, and multiple weapon violations.
Finally, last Thursday, authorities apprehended Johnson. After being charged with felony battery resulting in serious bodily harm, he posted a $10,000 bond shortly after midnight. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 22nd.
Under Florida law, felony battery causing serious physical injury carries a possible sentence of up to five years in prison along with a $5,000 fine.
