Homeland Security Arrests Man for Death Threats Against ICE Agents

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Saturday that Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) apprehended a man accused of making online posts with death threats aimed at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

Joseph Giancola, the suspect, was arrested in Fort Myers, Florida. He allegedly used the online alias “Cain Doron” on a social media platform called Blue Sky. DHS noted a shocking 8,000% rise in death threats against ICE agents during President Donald Trump’s push against illegal immigration.

According to DHS, Giancola’s posts included lines like, “Shoot the ICE Nazis like mad dogs,” and “Get a gun and shoot the ICE Nazis.” Some posts even urged followers to “shoot to kill” and to “bring out your gun and shoot them.”

Alongside the rise in threats, assaults against ICE officers have surged by over 1,000%, according to DHS data.

“This despicable individual made repeated and abhorrent death threats against ICE law enforcement officers. He is currently in federal custody and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” stated DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. She added that threats against law enforcement, including stalking and personal information leaks, have reached unprecedented levels.

DHS emphasized its commitment to the safety of its employees, urging that anyone making threats will face serious consequences. Interestingly, the department pointed to the role of political rhetoric and media coverage in contributing to this spike in violence against ICE personnel.

“Daily comparisons of ICE to the Nazi Gestapo and other violent entities have real-world repercussions,” DHS remarked. They underscored the humanity of ICE agents, insisting that they are working individuals with families who deserve respect.

On Thursday, DHS raised alarms about the increasing danger facing ICE officers, citing specific threats. For instance, Eduardo Aguilar, a Mexican national living illegally in Dallas, was arrested after allegedly encouraging the murder of an ICE officer in a TikTok post.

This post, written in Spanish, reportedly offered $10,000 for the assassination of an ICE officer and sought “10 determined, fearless men in Dallas.” In another disturbing incident in Texas, an unidentified caller threatened the spouse of an ICE officer, drawing comparisons to violent historical events.
