Florida man wanted after allegedly using Samurai sword to stab friend over Xbox console

Police in Florida are searching for a homeless man who allegedly stabbed his friend multiple times with a Japanese sword after refusing to hand over his Xbox game console on Monday.

FOX 35 in Orlando reports that Daytona Beach police are searching for Walter Grimes, who is wanted on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police said officers responded to an apartment in the 1000 block of South Beach Street and found a man bleeding near the front door, according to a report obtained by the department.

Police said the victim was conscious and was bleeding “moderately” from the left side of his face and shoulder.

The man was taken to a nearby parking lot for treatment, but police told Grimes, who he had known for about two years, that he had stabbed him with a sword.

Police said the man said Grimes, who had recently become homeless, “was upset because he had to carry his belongings.”

Just before 9pm on Monday, the two were sitting on the couch when the victim asked Grimes if he was going to give her his Xbox.

Grimes reportedly told the man “no,” then grabbed a Japanese sword from inside the apartment and stabbed the victim twice in the face and once in the shoulder and joint. be done.

The victim told police that Grimes did not say anything threatening to her during the argument. Grimes then fled the apartment in an unknown direction.

A neighbor told police he heard screaming coming from inside the apartment and when he went to check on the victim, he heard the victim pointing a sword at him and saying, “Walter stabbed me.”

Police arrived and found a samurai sword as well as blood stains covering the apartment’s entrance and carpet.

The victim was taken to an area hospital and treated for a 2- to 3-inch laceration, but his injuries were not life-threatening.

Grimes was previously arrested in Volusia County in 2020 on charges of assault and criminal mischief.
