A Florida man who was messing around in a stolen emergency vehicle only to crash and force a days-long manhunt by police, interrupted midway, has accepted a plea deal.
On Thursday, Gregory Brian McGall, 36, agreed to a plea deal that would see him face 25 years in prison.
Prosecutors said during a hearing in Hillsborough County Court that if the 26-year-old had not accepted the terms, he would have faced life in prison for the crime he committed on March 22 in Tampa, Florida.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), emergency responders driving a Chevrolet Tahoe from American Medical Response (AMR) were called to the scene of the accident around 2 a.m. on March 22.
Authorities said the driver, later identified as McGall, was driving a stolen pickup truck and crashed on the interstate.
During the investigation, McGall allegedly jumped into an AMR vehicle and fled the scene.

Dash camera footage showed McGirl driving the carjacked vehicle and leading a high-speed pursuit after Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies were notified of the theft and pursued the suspect before losing sight of him.
While driving recklessly, Magar bent the laptop backwards and threw it out of the window, breaking it.
The reckless drive came to an abrupt end when McGall crashed into a fenced-in grass field, authorities said.

McGall fled the scene after the crash, and authorities were able to find the vehicle, according to FHP.
The manhunt for the carjacker continued until HCSO officers spotted McGall in a silver Nissan Altima on March 26. Authorities said the car was being driven by Jerry Skidmore, 42, who had an outstanding arrest warrant.
Police stopped the vehicle at a gas station, entered the vehicle and arrested McGall and Skidmore, who then tried to flee but were quickly stopped, authorities said.
Sheriff Chad Chronister praised the work of his deputies in successfully arresting two men who were “wanted for serious crimes.”
“This operation is a great example of the dedication and collaboration between our specialist units,” Mr Chronister said. “Through their diligent efforts we were able to arrest two individuals wanted for serious crimes, helping to keep our communities safer. I commend the Auto Theft Unit and all involved for their excellent work.”
