Florida County Education Chair Apologizes for Comments on Hulk Hogan’s Death
The chairperson of the Florida County Board of Education has issued an apology for comments made on Facebook regarding Hulk Hogan’s passing. Sarah Rockwell, who leads the Alachua County Board of Education, took to her professional Facebook page to express regret over her “cruel and light comments.”
Reportedly, Rockwell had responded to a friend’s post about Hogan’s death, stating, “Oh, did Hulk die? I didn’t know. Good. There aren’t a few single magazines in the world.” Additionally, she criticized Hogan’s character in a follow-up comment, suggesting he was not a good person.
After her remarks gained attention and went viral, Rockwell deleted the comments. Screenshots of her original statement were shared before they were removed.
In her apology, Rockwell said, “A few days ago, I made a cruel and lighthearted comment from my personal Facebook account about a friend’s post about Hulk Hogan’s death. I deeply regretted making that comment and deleted it.” She wanted to clarify that her views were not intended to harm anyone, regardless of political differences.
Rockwell also extended her apologies to the students and families in Alachua County, reaffirming her commitment to representing diverse perspectives.
Hogan passed away on Thursday at 71, reportedly from cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida. Known as Terry Borea in real life, he had publicly supported Donald Trump during the 2024 election cycle, participating in events like the Republican National Convention and a Trump rally at Madison Square Garden.
The Alachua County public school district was contacted for comments but did not respond by the time of publication.
