Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister withdrew his name from consideration for President-elect Trump's nomination to head the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. (DEA).
“It is the honor of a lifetime to be nominated by President-elect @realDonaldTrump to head the Drug Enforcement Administration,” Chronister wrote in a post on X.
“Over the past few days, I have felt the weight of this very important responsibility, and I have come to the conclusion that I must respectfully withdraw from consideration. “I am deeply grateful for this appointment and the outpouring of support from the American people, and I look forward to continuing my duties as Hillsborough County Sheriff.”

Chronister was appointed chief of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office by then-Florida Governor Rick Scott in 2017 and has been re-elected twice.
