Florida State shooting: multiple athletic events canceled

Florida State University (FSU) told Fox News Digital it is canceling all sporting events until Sunday after at least six people were injured in mass shootings on campus.

“All Florida track and field home events until Sunday, April 20th have been cancelled,” the statement read. “A further updates to events scheduled for next week will be notified when available.”

Cancellations include the school’s seventh-ranked baseball team’s three-game series against Virginia from Thursday, and the final home series for the regular season fourth softball team against Georgia Tech from Friday.

School’s final two spring soccer practices have also been cancelled.

FSU has cancelled all classes until Friday.

University police said they are working to respond to and “control the active scene” on the Tallahassee campus. FSU later wrote to X that law enforcement “neutralised the threat,” but said parts of the campus are still considered “active crime scenes.”

Sources from Florida’s senior law enforcement agency told Fox News that at least one person is in custody but could not confirm whether the individual was a shooter. Additionally, the FBI’s Jacksonville Field Office and Tallahassee Residence offices are on-site.
