Footage captures Milwaukee judge Dugan addressing ICE prior to courthouse event

Milwaukee Judge’s Interaction with ICE Captured on Video

Recently released video footage seems to show Milwaukee Judge Hannah Dugan speaking with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents within the Milwaukee County Courthouse. Judge Dugan, 65, is facing federal charges for allegedly obstructing lawsuits with U.S. agencies and for hindering the arrest of an individual.

Prosecutors accuse Dugan of personally aiding undocumented immigrants, specifically helping Eduardo Flores Lewis evade a warrant while he was in court back in April. Surveillance footage that Milwaukee County disclosed shows Dugan, dressed in her black robe, interacting with ICE agents in the courthouse hallways.

On April 18, federal officials, including agents from ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), were reportedly preparing to serve a warrant to Flores Lewis. However, Dugan allegedly instructed an agent to head to the Supreme Court’s office to obtain a judicial warrant, after which she chose not to conduct a hearing for Flores Lewis.

There’s an indictment that claims Dugan misunderstood federal officials when they communicated the existence of a valid immigration warrant for Flores Lewis, who is facing three misdemeanor battery charges. The video footage also appears to depict Flores Lewis leaving the courthouse alongside his lawyer, at which point an ICE agent pursues them and ultimately catches him outside.

Federal law enforcement arrested Dugan shortly after this incident, and she faces a potential maximum of six years in prison. While she has pleaded not guilty to the charges, Dugan’s legal team has moved to dismiss the federal lawsuit against her, arguing that judicial immunity should apply to her official actions.

This situation is evolving, and further developments are awaited as the case proceeds through the legal system.
