Honduran Immigrant Arrested for Kidnapping and Assault

A Honduran man has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and sexual assault of a woman, who is reportedly a victim of sex trafficking. The man, identified as 22-year-old Jose Armando Carcamo Permo, was captured on video dragging the woman away as she screamed for help.

The victim, a 44-year-old immigrant from China, explained to police that she had traveled from New York to Houston for a job in the massage industry, promised to provide a better salary. However, upon arrival, her passport was taken, and she was held against her will. This situation is tragically common in trafficking cases.

During her attempt to escape, Carcamo allegedly pulled her back inside, tying her up before the assault. According to authorities, she was held captive for five days without food or water prior to her desperate attempt to flee.

One neighbor, who preferred to remain anonymous, witnessed the incident and recorded video evidence of Carcamo dragging the woman into his home. Mistaking the incident for a child abduction, the neighbor quickly called the police to report what he believed he was witnessing.

When officers responded to the emergency call, they discovered the woman hidden in a closet, her hands bound. Investigators established that Carcamo illegally entered the U.S. in 2020. They are concerned that he may be involved in a larger human trafficking network and are working to identify additional victims and suspects.

After his arrest, a statement from Carcamo’s attorney claimed that he was shocked by the serious allegations and maintained his innocence, expressing confidence that evidence would eventually prove his claims.

Currently, Carcamo is being held on a $150,000 bond and is also subject to detention by ICE. Authorities have confirmed that the victim is now safe, though the emotional and psychological toll of such an ordeal is undoubtedly significant.

The neighbor expressed regret about not acting sooner to prevent the situation, revealing his disappointment in not being able to intervene effectively. This case highlights the critical need for vigilance and community awareness in preventing human trafficking.
