Footage showed a father, stabbed and pleading for assistance, while his wife suffered from injuries in an incident attributed to their teenage son: 'I don’t want to die'

A father in the military was reportedly stabbed by his teenage son, and surveillance footage captured his desperate pleas of, “I don’t want to die,” while his wife fled the scene, injured and bleeding.

Lance Baker, 46, a U.S. Army Reserve battalion commander, suffered severe injuries in a tragic incident on Sunday night at their home in Alabama. His wife, Samantha Baker, 37, lost her life during a confrontation involving their 17-year-old son over disciplinary matters, as explained by authorities.

In an effort to escape, Baker ran from their home in Daphne, but the teenager pursued him, stabbing him several times in an assault described by neighbors as lasting up to seven minutes. “He was going from door to door, and there were handprints and blood all over,” recounted Sean Scully, who lives next door. Portions of the distressing scene were recorded on his security camera.

“Realizing I had to watch it, hearing my father’s cries for help… that was probably the hardest part,” Scully mentioned in an interview. Footage showed Baker pleading for assistance, saying, “Please help me. I don’t want to die.”

Authorities confirmed Baker was desperately searching for help from neighbors. Captain Justin Correa from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office noted that both parents were found outside their home, suffering from multiple stab wounds after attempting to escape the violent situation.

The attack was reportedly triggered by a disagreement among the trio concerning their children’s behavior. The scene of the crime extended over half a block in a private neighborhood called Bell Forest, about 27 miles east of Mobile.

Samantha Baker, a real estate agent, was pronounced dead at the scene, while her husband was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries.

With 26 years of service, Lance Baker held the position of battalion commander in the Mobile Unit’s 1184th Deployment Distribution Support Battalion.

The 17-year-old suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, has been arrested and will be charged as an adult with murder and attempted murder.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office had not provided further comments regarding the situation as of Wednesday.
