In a recent incident, three teenagers were arrested at a Florida residence after they joined in on a viral “door kicking challenge.” Authorities reported that the arrests took place on November 23, following a call from a homeowner who suspected a burglary was underway, stating someone was “trying to kick in the door.”
When deputies arrived, they found the teens hiding nearby, dressed in dark clothing and gloves. The group consisted of two 14-year-olds and one 13-year-old. Footage later showed them being handcuffed and placed into a police car.
The homeowner, shaken during the incident, was heard telling emergency responders, “My husband was trying to open the door with his gun… I’m holding it in my hand in case they come back.” An officer on the scene later asked the teens whether they considered the risk of being shot by the homeowner during their actions.
Interestingly, this challenge mimics the notorious “Ding Dong Ditch” prank, which tragically led to a serious incident involving a shooting earlier this year. The police indicated that the teens faced charges for loitering, while one was also cited for criminal mischief due to damage caused to the door.
Authorities cautioned that participating in such challenges isn’t just a harmless prank. The sheriff’s office emphasized that those involved could face severe and possibly life-altering consequences for their actions.
