For King & Country Shares That Their New Song ‘World on Fire’ Provides Hope During American Struggles

King & Country’s Upcoming Single Reflects Current Challenges

The Smallbone brothers, Joel and Luke, had plans to release their new song in the fall. However, the events unfolding in America have shifted the context entirely. Joel Smallbone shared a thought that resonates deeply: “We make plans, but God commands our steps.”

Their latest single, World on Fire, is set to drop on October 3rd. The aim, as Joel puts it, is to encourage Christians to let their light shine in every aspect of life, attempting to bring about change step by step.

This release comes during a tumultuous time in America, faced with tragic events, such as the assassination of Charlie Kirk and serious incidents like the stabbing of Irina Zalzka in Charlotte, along with recent school shootings in Minnesota and Colorado.

“We started working on this music last year. We didn’t plan for this particular release date with the current situation in mind,” Joel explained, reflecting on the tumultuous landscape not just in the U.S., but globally.

According to Joel, it feels as if they are being guided towards creating music that offers hope and positivity at a crucial time. There’s a unique language in music that can express both joy and pain, offering a soundtrack to the array of emotions people are experiencing.

“The language of angels can be found in our songs. We get to reflect what people are feeling and how they can respond with hope,” he noted. It’s almost like sending out a hopeful message through radio waves.

The upbeat track carries a powerful message in its chorus: “I will never dim the light – I will burn my world.” This single marks the beginning of their new projects, with the details of a forthcoming studio album still to be announced.

“Songs can serve as anthems for positive change, even in spite of prevalent darkness,” Joel said.

He added, “It often seems like everything is burning, but this song speaks to a different reality. It’s about finding peace amidst chaos. What does it mean to hold onto joy and love in turbulent times?”

“When negativity reigns in public discourse, it becomes crucial to express love and seek peace that transcends circumstances,” he remarked.

Joel mentioned they have taken time off from touring, indicating that they haven’t spent the season lounging around. Instead, their focus has been on family time and preparing new music, including a limited run show about the drummer boy for Christmas this December.

“This year has been pivotal for us personally and as a band,” Joel reflected. “Without this time for reflection and creativity, we would just be caught up in relentless travel and work.”
