Ford is delaying the launch of new electric pickup trucks and electric SUVs as demand for electric vehicles slows across the industry.
Automotive giant in Dearborn, Michigan Said The company on Thursday postponed the launch of an electric pickup truck built in Tennessee and a three-row SUV built in Ontario, Canada.
Despite the delays, the automaker said it hopes to expand its hybrid electric vehicle offerings and have “hybrid powertrains” across its gasoline vehicle lineup by the end of this year.
Ford announced that it will postpone SUV production at its Canadian plant from 2025 to 2027. Production of pickup trucks will be postponed from 2025 to 2026.
The launch delay is due to the company cutting production of its F-150 Lightning electric pickup vehicle in January due to declining demand.
“As the No. 2 EV brand in the U.S. for the past two years, we have used our capital wisely to bring the right gasoline, hybrid, and all-electric vehicles to market at the right time to grow our profitable EV business. ,” Jim said. Ford President and CEO Farley said:

The company said the complete conversion of its Ontario plant from gasoline vehicle production to EV production is still scheduled for the second quarter.
“We are fully committed to manufacturing in Canada and believe this decision will help us build a profitable and growing business over the long term,” Farley said.
