Former Professor Calls for U.S. Destruction at Event

A video posted on X features Mohamed Abdou, a former Columbia University professor who lost his position for supporting terrorist groups, calling for the “destruction” of the United States and urging students to dismantle the U.S. defense industry.

This week, during his “Death to the Academy” tour in Blacksburg, Abdou told the audience that they are involved in a “racial and religious war,” labeling the United States as a “monster.”

In the clip, he explained the tour’s provocative title, stating, “When we say death to America, we mean loud and clear the complete end of the American empire,” emphasizing the need to “destroy this crusading settler colony, their entire project.”

While speaking at a pro-Palestinian conference, panelists referred to the U.S. as “evil” and suggested it would “destroy American ideals.”

Abdou, banned from Columbia last year for voicing support for groups like Hamas, also described the October 7 attack as “the happy day of the al-Aqsa flood.” He called the attending students a “faction of the resistance” and “a faction of the Mujahideen.”

He criticized the “weapons industry,” urging students to overcome “all the hurdles” and “supply chain bottlenecks.” “Study what our Mujahideen have done,” he advised, adding that they should “start right away.”

The event reportedly took place despite Virginia Tech’s statement earlier declaring it was unsanctioned by any university organization. Spokesperson Mark Ouchalski remarked, “The event in question is not sponsored by any university-affiliated organization or registered by the university. Claims otherwise are untrue.”

Abdou’s comments extended beyond policy, as he mentioned Adolf Hitler, advising students to “understand what Hitler stands for,” before claiming that “the modern Zionist entity” embodies “the spirit of Hitlerism.”

He encouraged students to pursue knowledge from unconventional sources, urging them to seek answers from “the fringes of the fringes” rather than mainstream academia.

Previously, Columbia University had noted that following a congressional hearing, Abdou would be permanently ineligible for reemployment.

Neither Virginia Tech officials nor Abdou have commented regarding the event.
