Karen Finney, a former spokesperson for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, blasted Democrats for acting out of fear they will lose the presidential election, saying their attitude could be a self-fulfilling prophecy in November’s election.
Finney, who is also a CNN commentator, warned during a network panel Wednesday morning that voters will pick up on the fear and be less willing to vote for Democratic candidates.
“Voters see us as losers,” Finney lamented.

The former Clinton campaign official made the remarks while discussing new polls that show President Biden lagging former President Trump in several states crucial to winning the November presidential election.
She began by noting that this election cycle was going to be difficult no matter what, saying, “It was always going to be a tough race for Democrats.”
Finney then warned of tough battles ahead and the party’s defeatist attitude.
“But I think Democrats are in a cycle where it’s becoming a life-filling prophecy,” she said, adding, “The more we talk about being afraid of losing, not about how to win, the more voters are going to see us as losers.”
The commentator continued: “If you don’t believe you can win, voters are basically saying, ‘Well, why should I vote for you?'”
Finney urged party members to know that confidence is key, adding, “I keep telling Democrats, to get on the board and have a shot at winning, you have to believe you can win.”

The latest poll numbers reinforce concerns among many Democrats that Biden is not a strong enough candidate to beat Trump in the election, especially after his dismal performance in last month’s debate.
After the debate, key party members, including Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), have reportedly warned that Biden cannot win reelection and are urging the party to find a new candidate.

Unlike many other candidates in his party, President Biden and his campaign have sought to portray himself as the best candidate to beat President Trump and continue to brush off calls for him to be replaced as the nominee.
In a recent interview with NBC News host Lester Holt, the president reminded viewers that he is the one who should run for president because he won the primary.
“Fourteen million people elected me to be the Democratic nominee, OK?” Biden told NBC’s Lester Holt during an interview at the White House. “I’m going to listen to them.”
