Former NFL running back Giovani Bernard announced Thursday that his newborn son has passed away.
In a memorial post on Instagram, Bernard revealed that his child with wife Chloe passed away on February 8th. according to To USA Today.
“From the moment we knew you, you were loved and talked to and prayed for by so many people every day. From the moment we laid eyes on you, your heart was strong. It was so hilarious,” Bernard wrote.
“We are so grateful to have hugged you and spent a little time together. It was a short time, but a whirlwind of emotions arose. From pure joy, to the first time we met, to restraint… Even the sadness of not being able to do it,” the former Cincinnati Bengals player continued.
“Mom, Dad and Jules love you so much. You will always be our little warrior,” Brainard wrote. “We love you Gabrielle. And to Chloe, I couldn’t imagine life without you. I’m especially grateful to call you my wife. You are my spouse, You are so much more than I ever imagined as a mother and partner. You are truly amazing. Our story continues.”
According to the paper, Bernard played eight seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. A fan-favorite football player, he recorded 3,697 total yards, 2,867 receiving yards and 33 touchdowns with the team from 2013 to 2020.
