Tragic Incident at Minnesota Daycare
A man from Minnesota has reportedly killed his wife and young daughter at a home daycare facility before taking his own life. Authorities mentioned that these deaths are connected to a separate stabbing at a nearby home.
Hopkins Police Chief Brent Johnson stated that officers arrived at the Brown Bear Nursery around 9 a.m. local time. There, they discovered a 41-year-old man with gunshot wounds that appeared self-inflicted. His 41-year-old wife and their 7-year-old daughter were found with stab wounds.
In a related case, a 78-year-old woman, thought to be a relative of the man, was found stabbed to death at her home in Burnsville. Police confirmed that the suspect resided in Burnsville.
The identities of the victims haven’t been disclosed yet. Fortunately, six other children present in the daycare during the incident were unharmed and have since been reunited with their families.
Authorities mentioned that no note was found at the scene.
Chief Johnson further relayed that a parent who came to drop off a child at the daycare ultimately called the police, indicating they possibly witnessed the tragic event. “There’s really no worse scenario than thinking you’re leaving your child at a safe place and then receiving that call,” Johnson expressed. He went on to say how everyone can relate to this situation in some way, acknowledging the tragedy that unfolded in Hopkins.
The Hopkins Police Department released a statement indicating they were responding to reports of a stabbing at a residence functioning as a daycare. They also reassured the community that there were no remaining suspects and that there wasn’t any ongoing threat to the public. This event has been labeled as incredibly tragic for the community, with thoughts and prayers directed toward the affected families.
Investigators have suggested that the deceased man was the perpetrator of this isolated act, which ended with his own suicide.
