Fox News host Brian Kilmeade said Tuesday that Republican nominee Donald Trump and his running mate J.D. Vance may resonate with voters because they’re “weird.”
Democrats’ new attack ahead of the 2024 election is to attack Trump and Vance as “weird.” Kilmeade said the Democrats’ label for the Trump-Vance pairing will likely not fly with independents, just as so many previous attacks have failed.
“You know what didn’t work? Saying Trump is a threat to democracy, when nobody thinks that,” Kilmeade said. “The people who hate him do, but it didn’t resonate with independents, it didn’t work. So they tried to scare people, they tried to drag him to court, they tried to put him in jail, and it didn’t work. And they said he’s a threat to democracy, and it didn’t work. So now it’s like, OK, let’s say they’re weird.”
“I’ve got news for you all,” Kilmeade continued. “There’s a lot of people in America who are like, ‘Hey, I’m a little bit weird, my friends are a little bit weird, my parents are a little bit weird, so I empathize with people who are not perfect, who are a little bit weird.’ You can’t define Donald Trump to anybody on this planet. They’ve already formed an opinion. And in the case of J.D. Vance, this may have approached him, but you’ve seen the movies, you’ve read the books, you know his backstory, you saw him run for Senate. You’ve watched him for the last six, maybe a year and a half, and he’s only run once. So I don’t know how weird that is.”
