Fox Journalist Says BlackRock CEO Barely Knows That XRP Exists, Community Reacts – The Crypto Basic

Charles Gasparino commented on the prospect of BlackRock launching an XRP ETF, saying the company's CEO is not very aware of the sixth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.

Fox Business senior correspondent Charles Gasparino appeared on the X Platform to comment on his recent interview with BlackRock CEO Larry Fink regarding the outlook for XRP spot-based exchange traded funds (ETFs).

BlackRock CEO's XRP ETF comments fuel speculation

For context, Gasparino asked Fink in a recent interview to comment on BlackRock's stance on launching an XRP ETF in the near future.

In response to Gasparino's question about potential ETFs, Fink said: “I can't talk about that.”

His refusal to provide a clear answer sparked speculation among XRP enthusiasts. Some crypto enthusiasts have speculated that Fink's response suggests that the world's largest asset manager may consider launching an XRP ETF.

Gasparino says BlackRock CEO barely knows about XRP

As members of the XRP community speculate about BlackRock's possible foray into XRP, Gasparino also weighed in, saying Fink has limited awareness of the sixth-largest cryptocurrency.

He pointed out that the CEOs of top asset management companies only know about Ethereum's position in the crypto market. He also urged members of the XRP community not to read too much into Fink's “firm answers” regarding BlackRock's stance on launching spot-based ETFs.

XRP community reaction

As expected, Gasparino's comments sparked the ire of XRP enthusiasts, who responded in the comments section. Many community members accused Gasparino of being deceptive as they believed Fink had sufficient knowledge about the sixth-largest cryptocurrency.

An XRP enthusiast with the username “Bobby A” pointed out that financial experts consistently brief Fink on happenings in the cryptocurrency market. Bobby also recalled that BlackRock's CEO has given multiple interviews in which he clearly explained XRP and its use cases.

“Your statement not only makes you look deceptive, but also assumes that Larry Fink is an idiot, which he is not.” bobby Added.

Another enthusiast said Gasparino would not have asked Fink about XRP if he was sure the BlackRock CEO had limited knowledge about the sixth-largest cryptocurrency.

According to some XRP enthusiasts, Gasparino's recent comments on the prospects for the XRP ETF show that the cryptocurrency lives rent-free in his mind.

Unfriendly relationship between Gasparino and the XRP community

It's worth mentioning that Gasparino and members of the XRP community have been at loggerheads for months, and the two have exchanged words on the X platform.

XRP enthusiasts have accused Gasparino of being a biased journalist regarding his stance on cryptocurrencies, while he has referred to the community as “conspiracy theorists.”

SEC approves multiple Bitcoin ETFs

Meanwhile, Gasparino's recent interaction with members of the XRP community comes just days after the SEC approved multiple Spot Bitcoin ETFs.

Recall that BlackRock is one of the asset managers authorized to trade such funds. The world's largest asset manager recently recorded a huge success, boasting a whopping $1.01 billion of the $4.33 billion recorded on the first day of trading.

Meanwhile, BlackRock is one of several asset managers seeking the SEC's blessing to launch a spot-based ETF that includes Ethereum. Regulators have until May 23, 2024 to decide whether to reject or approve at least one of these ETFs.

Even after the SEC approves the Ethereum ETF application, it remains unclear whether BlackRock could consider launching an XRP ETF in the future.
