Former Giants great and current analyst Michael Strahan faces no punishment or fine from Fox Sports after receiving serious criticism for not putting his hands on his chest during the national anthem. Never.
During a special broadcast of “Fox NFL Sunday” commemorating Veterans Day from Naval Base San Diego, Strahan was seen with his fingers clasped near his waist, while all of his colleagues on the panel put their hands on their chests. Ta.
Strahan was only briefly visible on the air when the incident occurred, but it was enough to draw criticism on social media from some who view the act as unpatriotic.
A source told the Daily Mail. “We're not going to face any punishment or fines the way Michael did,” the person said Monday, describing the noise as an “internet controversy.”
Strahan's colleagues defended him, and Strahan himself has deep ties to the military through his father, who served 23 years in the U.S. Army and was a member of the decorated 82nd Airborne Division.
Strahan may address the controversy at a later date, but there is some hesitation as “he has little desire to avoid mentioning the controversy in order to give it some life,” the Daily Mail said. Sources reported.
“Michael wanted Veterans Day to be for the men and women who deserve it, who deserve it, and who deserve it, and he wanted to join the conversation in this way and talk about what people think he was doing. “To spread the word about it would go against the meaning of Veterans Day,” the source said.
“Michael was in the moment and never opposed the moment in front of him in any way, shape or form. This was an internet controversy that he never thought he would start,” the source said. He later spoke to the media.
Strahan has not directly addressed the situation since it took on a life of its own on Sunday.

He posted a tribute to his father, Maj. Gene W. Strahan Sr., on social media, including a photo of his father in uniform.
“Thank you to all the veterans and active duty military who bravely risk their lives to protect us every day,” Strahan wrote. “Your selfless service is immeasurable. This is my hero and my father, Maj. Gene W. Strahan Sr.”
He added: “Just as I honor my father, I remember you every day because without you we would not have the security and freedom that we cherish. thank you.”
