Francisco Lindor was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Sunday night as the Mets prepared to meet with free agent superstar Juan Soto and his agent Scott Boras in Southern California.
But was the National League MVP finalist there to make a pitch with owner Steve Cohen?
Lindor doesn't answer that question in a video taken at the airport, but the Post has learned that Lindor actually visited the city for a photo shoot with Oakley and then returned to his home in Florida, and that he appeared on the show. He has no plans to participate. Mets varsity team playing against Soto and Boras.
The Mets have not yet interviewed Soto.
The paper's Mike Puma first reported Thursday that Cohen was planning to travel to Southern California this week to meet with Soto and Boras.
Cohen could also meet with a group of other Boras clients who recently became free agents, including pitchers Corbin Burnes and Blake Snell and third baseman Alex Bregman.
Longtime Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is also a Boras customer.
Soto is a finalist for American League MVP, with Yankees teammate Aaron Judge expected to win the award. Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. was another finalist.
Competition for Soto is expected to be fierce, with the Blue Jays likely to be the main players along with the Mets and Yankees.
In his only season in pinstripes, the 26-year-old hit a career-high 41 home runs with a .288 batting average, .989 OPS, 109 RBIs and 128 RBIs.
He then batted .327 with four home runs, nine RBIs, and a 1.101 OPS in 14 playoff games.
Hal Steinbrenner and Aaron Boone will be part of the Yankees contingent that will face Soto and Boras.
Lindor was instrumental in the Mets' run to the NL Championship Game and was named a NL MVP finalist on Monday, along with Diamondbacks guard Ketel Marte and Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani. .
Lindor had 33 home runs, 91 RBIs, a .273 batting average, and an .844 OPS while playing as a Gold Glove shortstop.
