From texting controversies to election misconduct — if you’re a Democrat, ‘nobody raises any questions’

This week, political tensions are rising around elections in the United States, particularly highlighted by two notable stories.

In Maine, multiple former girlfriends of Senate hopeful Graham Platner have come forward, alleging troubling behavior linked to the Democratic Party, while his responses seem, well, unconvincing.

There are also accusations against Platner involving sexual text exchanges with a woman after their marriage in 2023.

“Graham Platner is trying to move past this week’s criticisms, claiming that aspects of his past are being used against him,” Beam TV host Stu Bruguiere commented to co-chair Dave Landau. “Honestly, when you do something wrong and it gets exposed, it feels like, well, they’re just using that against you.”

“It’s not really about holding you accountable; it’s more about using what you did against you,” Dave quipped.

“In these situations, you see Democrats facing controversies like this and just kind of coasting through it. No one really probes, or at least, they don’t seem to have to deal with it,” Stu remarked.

But Maine isn’t the only state embroiled in controversy.

Last weekend, the Los Angeles mayoral race shifted significantly as candidate Nitya Raman pushed ahead of Spencer Pratt, setting up a runoff against Mayor Karen Bass.

“So it’s turning out to be all Democrats in the final round,” Stu pointed out.

“So you’re suggesting the system meant to exclude Republicans is succeeding in keeping them out?” Dave asked, raising an eyebrow.

Stu noted that there’s a prevailing sense of skepticism among many on the right regarding the legitimacy of this process.

“It’s almost like you have these long-time conservatives coming in early, analyzing the numbers, and then, at the last possible moment, a flurry of votes suddenly appears for one candidate—like a big stack of letters to Santa, suddenly showing up in court,” Dave joked.

“And those letters aren’t even for Karen Bass; they’re really just aimed at knocking out Spencer Pratt to push Karen onward,” he added.
