Virginia Coach’s Family Faces Turmoil Amid Ongoing Search

The son of Virginia football coach Travis Turner, who has gone missing, celebrated what he called a “bittersweet” victory Saturday night. His father’s team remained undefeated after defeating Ridgeview High School 21-14, even as the search for the coach continues, with authorities investigating serious allegations against him.

Bailey Turner, 23, struggled to hold back tears while sliding down the sideline. The son of the longtime coach at Union High School expressed mixed emotions, describing the win as bittersweet given the shocking charges his father faces—accusations of child pornography and attempting to engage in sexual activity with a minor.

Bailey shared that his family has received considerable support during this difficult time. Fans approached him after the game, offering hugs and encouragement, all while the police expand their manhunt for Travis Turner, who has been missing since November 20.

Authorities believe the coach disappeared just before they were to question him about the allegations. Initially, he wasn’t charged, but on a recent Monday, police issued 10 warrants for his arrest, comprising five counts related to child pornography and five counts for soliciting a minor via computer. By Tuesday, he was declared a fugitive, while his family insists on his innocence.

Travis’s wife, Leslie, also spoke out against the claims. “None of that is true. He’s a good father and a good husband,” she maintained. The football coach, 46, was not just a mentor on the field; he also taught physical education at a small school with around 600 students.

As the search continues in the mountainous terrain, details remain scarce. The community feels the strain of the events, balancing between support for Bailey and concern for Travis, who vanished amid a season of success.
