Carmelo Anthony’s Legal Troubles and Fundraiser Closure
Carmelo Anthony is facing a lengthy prison sentence of 35 years after being convicted of murder. Although a fundraiser meant to assist his family, organized by his mother, has been canceled, he has appealed the conviction.
The crowdfunding campaign appeared on GiveSendGo shortly after Anthony was involved in the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a high school track event in Frisco, Texas.
The initial fundraising goal was nearly $1.4 million, yet it only attracted just under $634,000 before being taken down.
Details about the family’s living situation are murky. While it’s uncertain where they relocated from Frisco, a man claiming to be Anthony’s father has stated he currently resides in New Orleans.
GiveSendGo clarified that the funds had been utilized for legal defense and the family’s move, leading to the fundraiser’s closure as it had fulfilled its purpose.
Interestingly, even though one fundraising effort has ended, another campaign has been started by Dominic Alexander to continue support for the Anthony family. Minister Dominque Alexander, a civil rights activist from Dallas, has been appointed as their spokesperson during this challenging time.
Fox News Digital is trying to get comments from the Anthony family, Alexander, and GiveSendGo regarding these developments.
