Stabbing Incident Leads to Body Disposal in Lake
An Illinois man, after fatally stabbing his half-brother during a dispute, reportedly collaborated with the victim’s wife to dismember the body, hide it, and dispose of the remains in a lake, according to authorities.
James Adams, 26, and Robin Turner, 62, face charges of concealing a murder and mutilation related to the death of 38-year-old Dale Wayne Turner last month, as stated by the Illinois State Police.
On June 28, some boaters spotted a human arm floating in Lake Mattoon, which led investigators to uncover more body parts nearby.
The deceased was identified as Dale Wayne Turner based on a notable tattoo located on his arm.
Just days after the incident, both Adams and Robin Turner were named as suspects and apprehended.
Documents released recently indicate that Adams confessed to stabbing his half-brother, while the victim’s wife failed to contact authorities following the incident. Reportedly, Adams claimed self-defense, stating that an argument in the living room escalated, resulting in the stabbing.
“I did it, and I did it in self-defense. That’s the truth,” Adams said in the documents.
Attempts to cover up the crime included using bleach to clean the house, repainting areas, and burning wooden panels in fire pits.
Robin Turner suggested the renovations took place between June 21 and June 30.
During a search of their residence, investigators found what appeared to be blood stains in the downstairs freezer. When opened, the freezer contained the victim’s torso, head, and neck, but his limbs were missing.
According to prosecutors, the dismembered body parts were placed in garbage bags, weighted, and subsequently discarded in Lake Mattoon. However, one bag reportedly tore, causing the victim’s tattooed arm to float to the surface.
A further investigation discovered additional weighted bags with human remains in the lake.
Scheduled for a detention hearing on Thursday, Adams and Turner are now facing serious legal consequences.
A GoFundMe page established for funeral expenses has accrued over $1,300 as of Tuesday afternoon, with one relative expressing their devastation over Dale Wayne Turner’s tragic death.
