Gallego rakes in close to $22M in third quarter for Arizona Senate race

Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) raised nearly $22 million in the third quarter of this year's fundraising campaign for the Arizona Senate, his campaign announced Thursday.

Gallego's campaign said the Arizona Democratic Party raised more than $21.7 million from July to September of this year, with donations of $100 or less accounting for 95% of the donations he received. The campaign also noted that more than 271,000 people contributed to his campaign in the last quarter.

Gallego is running against Republican Kari Lake in the race to replace retiring Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.), and Sinema's seat will be crucial in determining which party will control the Senate majority this fall. It is seen as a serious dispute. Gallego wasn't the only Senate Democrat with an eye-opening fundraiser in the third quarter. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), who is facing a tough re-election bid in the state, has raised nearly $31 million. His campaign said:

It's unclear how much money Lake raised in the last quarter, but candidates have until Oct. 15 to file their third-quarter campaign reports.

“Arizonas know we need Ruben Gallego in the U.S. Senate, which is why more than 437,000 small donors have stepped up to support our campaign.” Gallego campaign manager Nicole Johnson said in a press release. “Thanks to their generous support, we will defeat Kali Lake and send a lifetime active duty Marine to the Senate.”
