Gaza Ceasefire Takes Effect Following U.S. Mediation
The ceasefire in Gaza, facilitated by President Trump, officially began at noon local time, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). They confirmed that troops have been withdrawn to the previously agreed line.
This ceasefire allows residents of Gaza to travel north along the Rashid coast road and the Salah al-Din highway. In accordance with the agreement brokered by President Trump and Israel, the IDF announced the release of 11 Hamas prisoners.
Hamas has been given a 72-hour deadline to deliver all remaining hostages, whether they are alive or deceased, under the terms of the ceasefire.
Once the ceasefire and troop withdrawal to the Yellow Line were confirmed, people in Gaza started moving into the northern part of the territory. However, residents have been cautioned to stay clear of areas still occupied by Israeli forces.
IDF spokesman Colonel Adley stated, “According to the agreement, IDF forces will continue to maintain a presence in certain areas of the Gaza Strip. Until further notice, please do not approach IDF forces in the area. Approaching these forces places you at risk. Entering Israeli territory and the designated buffer zone is prohibited and extremely dangerous.”
In addition, individuals have been advised to refrain from entering the sea for the next few days due to considerable risks associated with fishing, swimming, and diving.
During a recent Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remarked on the advancements made: “We are making decisive progress… and we are on the verge of achieving it. None of this would have been possible without President Trump’s extraordinary support and his team. The bravery of the soldiers who entered Gaza has generated both military and diplomatic pressure that has effectively isolated Hamas and brought us to this point.”
This situation is ongoing, and more updates will follow.
