Geert Wilders Discussed 'Significant Threat' of Large-Scale Migration With President Trump

Wilders Meets Trump at NATO Summit

A prominent anti-Islamization activist and leader of the largest Dutch political party, Geert Wilders, met with President Donald Trump during the NATO summit. They discussed the challenges posed by significant migration.

Earlier this month, Wilders played a role in collapsing the Dutch government. At the summit, he withdrew his party’s support for coalition partners who have hesitated on managing mass migration. As the leader of the leading political party and a front-runner in the upcoming national elections, Wilders has lived under 24-hour protection for over two decades, primarily due to persistent threats against his life stemming from radical groups.

In a statement, he highlighted to Breitbart News that he perceives large-scale immigration as a considerable danger and urged the protection of the nation’s identity.

Wilders described the meeting as “great,” emphasizing the importance of stringent immigration policies.

Subsequently, when reporters inquired about the discussions, President Trump refrained from criticizing Wilders’s anti-Islam stances, instead stating that Wilders is dissatisfied with the current situation in the Netherlands.

This was their first meeting, although the Trump administration had previously shown implicit support for Wilders’s efforts to uphold Dutch national identity amidst the recent government collapse, which has led to new elections.

The Netherlands faces significant challenges regarding open-border policies and illegal migration, much like other European nations. Leaders prioritizing their citizens and focusing on safeguarding their countries’ futures should be commended. European leaders need to protect their sovereignty by emphasizing strong borders and tackling illegal migration.

This NATO Conference took place in The Hague, the seat of the Dutch government, which is currently managed by the Caregiver Bureau pending upcoming elections. Wilders’s Party for Freedom, which led in the last election, found itself in a precarious coalition due to insufficient seats for solo governance. The unusual decision to prevent Wilders from becoming prime minister amid coalition negotiations contributed to the recent government collapse, with other parties resisting his migration policies.

A snap election is scheduled for October 29th.
