General Motors Shifts Stock Listing to Nasdaq
General Motors (GM) revealed on Tuesday that it plans to move its stock listing from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) to Nasdaq next month. The automaker based in Detroit stated this shift underscores its increasing emphasis on technology and innovation.
The company’s shares are expected to begin trading on the Nasdaq Global Select Market on November 17, continuing to use the ticker symbol “GM.”
Paul Jacobson, GM’s Chief Financial Officer, mentioned in a statement, “GM’s customer-focused, technology-driven strategy is creating value for our stockholders, making Nasdaq a natural home for our listing as we grow. We’re grateful for our long-standing partnership with the New York Stock Exchange and its remarkable legacy.”
Operating brands like Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac, GM has been intensifying its focus on advanced vehicle technology as a central element of its long-term growth approach.
Enhanced Autonomous Driving Plans
This transition occurs as GM continues to invest in technologies designed to enhance vehicle safety, intelligence, and efficiency, while also broadening its electric vehicle lineup.
There’s the potential for GM to be included in the Nasdaq-100 Index, which features 100 of the largest non-financial companies on the exchange, though this inclusion isn’t guaranteed.
Electric Vehicle Initiatives
GM shares will remain listed on the NYSE until the markets close on November 16. Existing shareholders won’t need to take any action due to this transition.
The automaker did not report any changes in its business strategies related to the stock exchange move.
