Last week, Geno Smith had another run-in with law enforcement in Florida.
The Jets quarterback’s recent encounter with the Davie Police occurred at 11:20 a.m. on July 6. He was accused of driving 25 mph over the speed limit near his home in Davie.
Body camera footage shows Smith being complimented on his 2025 silver Aston Martin before being admonished for his speed. “Okay, sir,” the officer remarked in the video. “It’s a beautiful car, but 70 miles per hour is too fast for a 45 mph zone.”
Smith was then asked for his driver’s license, but he mentioned he didn’t have it with him. “I live here; all my licenses are at my house,” he explained, stating that the car belonged to a friend.
Eventually, the officer noted Smith’s information and reminded him that he must carry physical ID at all times. Smith replied, “That’s bad.”
He ended up receiving two citations for speeding and for not having a driver’s license before being allowed to leave.
This incident marks the third time in recent months that Smith has been questioned by the Davie PD. In April, he was arrested for driving a Rolls-Royce with an incorrect tag, which didn’t go well. Last month, police visited his home after a woman claimed a man had “hit her” during a dispute. Although the investigation was initially closed, it has since been reopened and is still in progress.
Since being traded from the Raiders to the Jets this offseason, Smith has not publicly addressed his multiple interactions with the police.
