Prosecutors backed by left-wing billionaire George Soros face a tough election in 2024 — even in deep-blue California.
San Francisco voters recalled radical San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin in June 2022. Although Boudin was not directly endorsed by Soros, he was sympathetic to Soros' criminal justice reform agenda.
It was the beginning of a backlash that continues to this day and spread to Oakland and Los Angeles.
In Alameda County, which includes Oakland, Soros-backed District Attorney Pamela Price faces a tough recall election. Questions about nepotism in Price's office have spurred a spike in local crime.
of san francisco chronicle reported Despite rallying 100 left-wing supporters on Sunday, Price appears defeated.
Groups supporting the recall include all 14 police unions in the county and the union representing prosecutors in Price's office.
…
The recall campaign has raised about $3.7 million, far more than Mr. Price's $354,000 campaign fund, financial records show.
According to the newspaper, “Some supporters who attended the rally held placards reading 'We will not return' and 'Defend our democracy.'” chronicleHowever, recall is actually a democratic process.
As Breitbart News reported, in Southern California, Mr. Boudin's predecessor as San Francisco attorney and Soros-backed Los Angeles district attorney George Gascón may have survived two recall petitions, but he is facing his first full reelection bid. It was a big loss.
a Los Angeles Times/University of California, Berkeley public opinion poll A poll of likely voters earlier this month found Gascón's approval rating at just 21%, far behind his challenger, former Republican Nathan Hockman, at 51%, and 28% were undecided.
If Mr. Price, Mr. Gascón and others lose elections in deep blue cities in left-wing states, it would signal the failure of radical criminal justice reform policies and reverberate in cities across the country.
