A middle school teacher in Georgia has resigned after allegedly throwing an 11-year-old student across the classroom and making sexual comments about the child's mother.
According to reports, the Delenne Middle School student, identified as TJ, got up from his desk and approached teacher Betleylin Elder at the front of the classroom to stop her from talking about his mother. WTOC.
“I heard he said some inappropriate things to TJ and made some remarks about me, and my son wasn't happy about it,'' Shenelle Russell he told the outlet.
Footage of the altercation showed TJ and Elder, who is also the school's football coach, exchanged a few words with each other before the educator grabbed the 11-year-old's chest.
The elder lifted the student off the floor and effortlessly threw him onto a desk near another student.
TJ allegedly told Elder to “stop talking about my mom” and tried to call Elder about the teacher's comments.
“From that point on, he was casually grabbed and thrown to the floor,” Russell explained.
When TJ tried to get off the ground, Elder stood directly above him.
Russell doesn't know Elder, but said the school system has failed her because the violent tossing left her with mistrust of the school.
Russell said Elder's comments were “sexual in nature,” including one in which he told TJ's mother that he had left his shoes at TJ's mom's house.
School authorities removed Elder from the classroom and reassigned him to another location away from students.
According to the newspaper, TJ suffered a concussion and multiple bruises and was taken to the emergency room after school on Friday.
Elder submitted his resignation to the school district over the weekend.
Russell, who had wanted more discipline against Elder, didn't like the sudden resignation.
“He needs to go to jail. He hurt my son. It broke my heart because I wouldn't want to do that to my own child. His father would never do that to him. There wasn't. So for him to take the initiative and do that is disgusting,” Russell said.
No lawsuits or criminal charges have been filed against Elder, according to . Savannah morning news.
