Another quarterback will be added to the 2025 NFL Draft class.
Georgia correspondent Carson Beck announced Saturday that he will turn pro after five seasons with the Bulldogs.
In an emotional post on his Instagram account, Beck thanked his coaches and teammates during his time in Athens.
“The past five years at the University of Georgia have truly been a dream come true, and I will cherish these memories forever,” Beck wrote. “To everyone at Dawg Nation, thank you for letting me be here, and thank you to those who supported and believed in me. It's been an incredible journey and all these moments have ultimately helped me… This has led me to the next step in my football career. With that said, I am declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft!”
The 23-year-old has had a polarizing career at the University of Georgia.
Beck took over as the full-time starter in 2023 and threw for 3,941 yards (9.5 yards per pass attempt) with 24 touchdowns and just six interceptions.
At the time, he was considered by many experts to be a potential first-round pick, but he decided to stay at Georgia until 2024.
However, he took a slight step back this year with fewer passing yards (3,485) and twice as many interceptions (12).
To make matters worse, Beck was injured on the final play of the first half of the SEC title game against Texas, requiring surgery on the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
He will miss the College Football Playoff but is expected to make a full recovery.
A little over two weeks ago, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer said: I wrote He said Beck's draft stock could take a “very healthy hit” due to the injury.
This year's quarterback class will likely include Colorado's Shedule Sanders and Miami's Cam Ward at or near the top of the draft.
