German ‘Conservatives’ Bend to Greens, to Add Climate to Constitution

The German next prime minister faces accusations of betraying voters after succumbing to left-wing demands on spending and climate to promote fresh defence spending.

Despite the previously governing Social Democrats (SPD) and Greens being overwhelmingly rejected by German voters in last month's federal election, Friedrich Merz, boss of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), will continue to keep their demands after rejecting a coalition of alternative populist lying planing.

On Tuesday, the moderator votes for changes to the German constitution, lifting restrictions on debt expenditures, enabling a trillion euro package on defense and infrastructure, public broadcaster DW Report.

After the Greens shot down its first proposal last week, Meltz agreed to commit the 100 billion euros of 500 billion euros allocated to infrastructure for “climate protection” over the next 12 years.

Going further, the next prime minister also fell into demanding that the constitution write “an additional investment to achieve climate neutrality by 2045.”

Sunday, Meltz I said of the bill: “I am not the prime minister yet. But I can assure you: I will certainly not be green. But the prime minister facing environmental responsibility.”

Merz and CDU/CSU are currently forming a “black” government during coalition talks with the SPD, but it is expected that talks will continue more than Easter before the new government takes place in Berlin.

However, the next prime minister is trying to enact constitutional changes before the new parliament convenes on March 25th. Therefore, an extraordinary session is scheduled for voting on Tuesday.

The urgency that paves the way for the Trillion Euro package will be driven by changes in the composition of parliament next week, when alternatives to Germany and the radical Dailinke (left) party have enough seats to block constitutional reform.

However, even under the current composition of the Bandetag, changes to the German basic law require two-thirds of votes, so Green Party was in a position to block the bill, and thus could request more concessions from the central right Mertz.

Commenting on this deal, AFD leaders Alice Weidel and Tino Kurpara I said In a joint statement on Friday: “Friedrich Mertz was taken on a ride again and succumbed to the demands of the Green Party's election losers. The Greens apparently have fully acquired their demands in their speeches with CDU/CSU and SPD. The outcome of the negotiations once again shows Friedrich Mertz is willing to pay any price to move on to Prime Minister, which is not going well for our country.

“Friedrich Merz to bend the constitution, disrupt the finances, steal current and future taxpayers, and buy the prime minister with the mercy of the Green Left Party. That's not what the citizens voted three weeks ago.”

Key concessions on the Green Agenda come after Merz surrendered to the left-wing Social Democrats, including reverting to strict border controls, relocating reserve coalition talks and expanding SPD initiatives such as reducing time to becoming citizens.

Merz has effectively handed all negotiation power to SPD by decisively excluding its partnership with the anti-mass transition AFD.
