Mr. Bezos is entering the gas market.
For Amazon Prime members, Fridays have transformed. They’re not just the end of the work week or a jump start to weekend chores anymore. Instead, some drivers can enjoy Prime perks when refueling their vehicles.
When the discount is applied
Amazon Prime members now enjoy an additional 25 cents off per gallon of gas every Friday, continuing through the end of the year.
This bonus adds to the current perks available under the Prime membership, which already includes a 10-cent discount per gallon through a partnership with a gas station loyalty program. The current deal enhances savings by an extra 15 cents per gallon.
Location
The Amazon Gas Discount is available at select BP, Amoco, and AM/PM stations across the country, applicable to all fuel grades. This brings the total number of participating locations to around 7,500 nationwide.
The existing 10-cent discount saves Prime users about $70 a year. With the extra Friday savings, households could cushion their budgets during the holidays when expenses tightly stack up.
If you fill a 15-gallon tank each Friday, you’re looking at $3.75 off, which totals to nearly $40 over ten weeks. This lesser-known Prime benefit could help ease some travel expenses amid fluctuating tariffs and economic challenges.
Every little bit helps, doesn’t it?
Structure
It’s a straightforward process. Amazon Prime members just need to drive to a gas station, enter their phone number or scan the Earnify app, and watch the price drop. However, this offer is limited to one use each Friday.
For some, it might just be a few dollars saved.
But for others—like commuters and families on the go—this savings really starts to accumulate over time.
Remember, the 25-cent discount is valid for one fuel purchase each Friday, with no set limits on gallon amounts.
This Friday bonus will conclude after December 26, but the regular 10-cent discount will remain for qualified Prime members.
Amazon’s holiday deals are geared towards Fridays, traditionally the busiest day for fuel sales, to entice customers to take advantage of bonus discounts right before the weekend routines kick in.
How to redeem
To access this benefit, Prime members must link their Amazon accounts to the Earnify platform used by BP.
Once tied together, members can either input their phone number at the pump or scan the Earnify app to enjoy their discount.
Keep in mind, linking the accounts involves sharing some data between Amazon and BP, which might not suit everyone. But, it’s about balancing savings with a bit of data sharing, I suppose.
Who is it for?
This discount is exclusively for Amazon Prime members.
While 25 cents off may appear modest, it signifies a broader trend in consumer membership programs.
Amazon aims to be with you not just for groceries or streaming shows, but even when you’re fueling your car.
