Multiple Arrests of Ghanaian Man on Sexual Assault Charges
A 26-year-old man from Ghana has faced several arrests within just two weeks, suspected of sexual assault, as reported from Oklahoma City. Notably, one incident was observed by a local firefighter who promptly notified the police about the assault occurring in a park.
This individual has been identified as Jeff Kufi (Kofi) Asare, born in October 1999 in Accra, Ghana. His most recent arrest took place on a Thursday after he was suspected of assaulting a woman along the Lake Hefner Trail. According to reports, the local firefighter witnessed the incident and remained until police arrived.
The Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office has indicated that it is currently investigating at least three sexual assault cases linked to Asare.
Recent details emerged regarding Asare’s alleged offenses:
- On August 1, authorities responded to a call about a potential rape near Northwest 23rd Street and Classen Boulevard. Asare allegedly pressed a woman against a bus stop window and reached into her pants.
- In another report, a woman recounted how Asare approached her from behind on Classen Boulevard, pulled down her pants, and assaulted her before fleeing. Consequently, he was charged with sexual assault and lewd acts.
- Shortly after, near Shisawtail Park, he reportedly grabbed a woman’s buttocks multiple times and attempted to pull her pants down. When she asked him to stop, he complied, but police later found and arrested him on suspicion of sexual assault.
- On the following Wednesday, Asare allegedly approached another woman from behind on the Lake Hefner Trail, pulled her down, and tried to rape her, prompting firefighters to intervene and call for law enforcement.
A district court judge has set bail at $75,000 concerning the first-degree rape charge, according to jail records. Furthermore, the District Attorney’s Office intends to request an increase in bail, citing the pattern of repeated offenses over a short timeframe.
Discussion surrounding Asare’s immigration status has triggered significant reactions on social media. It has been reported that Judge Cinti Truong had previously released him via the “TEEM system” after he received an immigration warning following another arrest in April.
Since August 2023, court records indicate that Asare has faced 19 felony and misdemeanor charges. Authorities from ICE have been contacted for clarity regarding his immigration status, but no information has been made available as of now.
