Two curious goats recently made headlines by attempting to hitch a ride on a public bus in Portland, but they’ve now safely returned to their owners.
Known as ‘Billy the Kid’ and ‘Billy the Goat,’ these playful pygmy goats were caught in the act, and their antics quickly went viral. The update came from the Oregon Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District (TriMet).
It’s been confirmed that the adventurous goats are back home after their escapade captured the attention of many online.
In the aftermath of their little adventure, their owners have taken steps to secure the enclosure’s gate to prevent further escapades, ensuring these spirited goats stay safe.
Footage from inside the bus shows one of the goats sneaking in just before the doors shut, startling commuters during the busy morning rush. “Some goats just got on,” one surprised passenger told another.
The bus driver, Abdellah L., quickly noticed the unplanned passengers, reopening the door so the goat could exit. Reflecting on the experience, he remarked, “This is probably the weirdest thing that’s happened in my career.”
Feeling a bit unsure about how the goats would act on board, Abdellah made sure the bus was secure and got help from a willing passenger to escort the goats off the bus.
He humorously noted that they didn’t seem to have a proper fare, leading to their exit. “It was amusing. They didn’t seem to follow the rules, so they just left,” he said.
Giving the goats high marks, Abdellah rated them “11 out of 10,” praising their behavior as they quietly exited when prompted.
Following their amusing adventure, the Department of Transportation has launched T-shirts featuring the goats, celebrating this lighthearted moment in TriMet history.
The website playfully says, “The internet’s favorite TriMet passenger is now officially a T-shirt.” It invites both goat lovers and fans of TriMet to show their pride with a fun design.
