‘God put me there’: Toddler only survivor after Wisconsin crash kills 9, including 7 Amish community members

9 people killed in van-trailer collision in Wisconsin, toddler the only survivor fox news digital. Seven of the nine people who died were from the Amish community.

The crash happened on Highway 95 southeast of Eau Claire in western Wisconsin, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. The surviving 2-year-old boy was reportedly thrown from the car but was eventually rescued by witnesses to the horrific crash.

“I think God put me there for a reason,” said child rescuer Nathaniel Jahn. Jahn went on to say that he was unable to help others in the accident as the van quickly burst into flames.

KMSP report The Amish group was from Pounding Mill, Virginia, hundreds of miles from where the accident occurred. After the accident, the Amish community set up an information line.

The 2-year-old boy lost his parents, sister, grandmother and two aunts in the accident, it said.

The Amish community’s information line said: “The loss of nine lives in a single accident is an incredible shock. Words cannot explain it. It is completely beyond our understanding. Our hearts are torn and our blood is broken. “We are broadcasting this,” he said.

Neighbors in the Virginia area came forward to help the community. Sarah and Jody White, who were born and raised in Barks Garden, Virginia, said their hearts break for the families who watched their children grow up in the area, according to the report.

“This was the most devastating thing this community has ever experienced,” Sarah said. “You can say, ‘I’m sorry,’ but that doesn’t cover someone’s loss. And if you’re a human being, and you lost your wife, your two children, your son-in-law, your grandchild… What would I say to that person?”

Los Blancos have launched an initiative to raise money and donations for the family.

“The Amish community is a community of people who will give whatever you have to give,” Jodi said. “The faith and strength that this group of people is showing right now is unparalleled. It’s truly admirable.”

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers (D) addressed the tragic situation on social media, saying, “Kathy and I are saddened by the fatal accident that occurred today in Clark County and tragically claimed the lives of nine people.” It hurts,” he wrote.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of all involved, and to the first responders who worked quickly to provide assistance at the scene.”
