Kelly Barnett, a Gold Star mother whose son, Taylor Hoover, was killed during the Afghanistan withdrawal, said on Fox News Channel's “America's Newsroom” on Tuesday that former President Donald Trump was a “rock star” helping Gold Star families work through their grief.
“Why was it important to share the video your family made over the weekend?” host Bill Hemmer asked.
“We are so tired. We've been so disrespected these last three years. It's been three years now. There's been no response from them. No response saying they're sorry. We stand with you. We know it was a mistake. We know we did the wrong thing. Mistakes happen and we know this wasn't supposed to be a war but it was. It's important to let Donald Trump know. He was there for us. He was our support. He was there for us and gave us comfort for a little while and carried that grief. That's what he did. He carried the grief with us and gave us and all the families a little bit of comfort and happiness that day,” Barnett said.
She added: “We had to do it because he was always there for us. It makes no sense for them to level blame at us or at him, other than the fact that they were not there and felt ashamed or angry that he was with us.”
