GOP Rep. Pushes Bill Prohibiting State Bans on Certain Rifles, Shotguns

Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-New York) introduced a bill this week that would prevent states from banning rifles and shotguns that are legal under federal law.

This bill, the Second Amendment Guarantees Act (SAGA), would act as a national preemption law that would prevent states from banning firearms that the federal government has not banned. Additionally, prohibitions contained in laws such as New York State's Safety Act would be rescinded.
