Gov. Greg Abbott Slams NYC Mayor Eric Adams For ‘Aiding And Abetting’ Biden’s Border Policies

Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott, in an interview with “Fox News Sunday,” criticized New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, and accused him of being complicit in exacerbating the ongoing immigration crisis.

In an interview with Fox News, Abbott accused Adams of worsening the immigration crisis under President Joe Biden. Mr. Abbott’s comments directly challenged Mr. Adams, who blamed Texas for bussing thousands of illegal immigrants into New York City. Mr. Abbott claimed that the actual abuse of immigration as a political tool was orchestrated by Biden.

“The person who is actually using illegal immigration as a political pawn is Joe Biden. It allows Joe Biden to appeal to and appease the extreme leftists in the Democratic Party, where people like illegal immigration into our country. This open border policy was launched. [Alexandria] Ocasio-Cortez is trying to gain their support and at the same time destroy the country she is in charge of,” Abbott said. “He is our commander in chief for our national security. Because of the political maneuvering that Joe Biden has done, our country is being invaded in a way that puts us at risk.”

The Texas governor did not hold back in his criticism of Adams, accusing him of supporting Biden’s policies by maintaining New York City’s sanctuary city status. (Related: FBI investigating Mayor Eric Adams’ free upgrade allegations, investigation underway)

“And Mayor Adams helps that by having sanctuary city status, which welcomes anyone from all over the world to either live there or stay in New York City on New York City’s bill.” “And what Mayor Adams needs to do is stop talking boldly about illegal immigrants and the immigrants that the state of Texas is bringing in,” he continued. “And he needs to step up and do his job. Look at the danger in New York City on his watch. There are police officers who have been killed. A police officer was attacked by an illegal immigrant in Times Square.”

Abbott concluded by asking Adams to focus more on the safety and well-being of New York City residents, rather than making political statements on immigration.
