“Failure” by President Biden and Vice President Harris could lead to Iran building a nuclear weapon just months before the US presidential election, Senator Lindsey Graham said. warned on Sunday.
Appearing on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” Graham said the Senate received a “stunning” report last week from the director of national intelligence about the current state of Iran’s nuclear program.
“What I’m most worried about is the rush to nuclear weapons,” Graham said. “Not only would it open a second front, [in Israel’s war]”But they could use the next three or four months before the election to rush into developing nuclear weapons, and we need to warn them. That can’t happen.”
Earlier this month, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned that Iran could produce fissile nuclear material within “a week or two”.

While Secretary of State Blinken blamed the collapse of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), known as the Iran nuclear deal, for Iran’s accelerated development, Graham blamed Biden and Harris.
“Biden and Harris have been epic failures in keeping the Ayatollah in check,” the senator said. “They’ve enriched him, and Israel is paying the price.”

Israeli authorities said a rocket from Lebanon struck a football field in the Golan Heights on Saturday, killing 12 children and young people, in what the Israeli military called its worst attack on civilians since October 7.

Israeli officials have alleged the rocket was fired by the Iran-backed terrorist group Hezbollah, and Foreign Secretary Blinken said Sunday that “all evidence” showed the rocket came from Hezbollah.
Graham said that if Iran is not “warned” and its proxies, Hezbollah and Hamas, are not held accountable for attacks on Israel, it will continue to attack the Jewish state.

“You’re going to see more of this with Iran until they believe they’re going to be attacked and we put their oil refineries on the target list,” Graham warned.
