Grandma, 74, assaulted by JetBlue flight crew, left with black eye: suit

It was a storm over a teacup.

A JetBlue Airways passenger claims he was accosted by a flight attendant when he tried to dispose of a teacup and spoon.

Angela Sidell was flying to Costa Rica from JFK Airport on October 31st to celebrate her recent retirement, but when she was looking for a trash can to throw away the rest of the tea she drank on the plane, she discovered a strange, quintessentially British thing. A mayhem unfolded, the lawsuit said.

The 74-year-old grandmother-of-four, who lives in Jersey, England and used to work as a flight attendant, was in the bathroom while the flight attendants came to collect her trash, only to leave her trash on the counter. He claims that She was in her galley when she couldn't find the trash can, according to court documents.

The next thing she knew, a female crew member who was “unusually loud and verbally aggressive” falsely accused her of throwing a cup into the galley, according to court documents.

When Mr. Sidell asked for his name and employee identification number, the employee refused.

The flight attendant also did not tell Sydell the pilot's name or provide her with a complaint form or piece of paper to write out her grievances. So Sydell used a barf bag instead.

Sydell hit her head on the plane's rear exit door and had her hands cuffed behind her back until the plane was diverted to Orlando, where she and her companion were booted off.
