Former NFL player Greg Hardy stated that he and his family are doing “completely amazing” despite his recent arrest related to allegations of assaulting a family member.
Hardy, who is 36 years old, was taken into custody last Wednesday in Texas. He faces charges claiming that the incident resulted in physical injuries to a family member, according to reports.
In an Instagram post on Monday, Hardy urged people not to trust media narratives, insisting they don’t have the complete story and that it negatively impacts his family. “Things get emotional, but they won’t become what your clown is trying to spread. I sincerely ask, my family and I are all in perfect health,” he wrote.
The post featured videos alongside pictures of a woman, two children, and moments of affection between him and the woman as well as a child playing in a bouncy house.
Hardy has previously mentioned having a son and a daughter.
The arrest affidavit mentions Miranda Thorpe as Hardy’s girlfriend. She reportedly called the police claiming he attacked her, leaving visible marks on her body.
Police noted injuries consistent with physical violence, including scars and redness.
Thorpe expressed skepticism about Hardy’s statements after seeing a message on her phone, which led her to believe he wasn’t being truthful.
According to the report, Hardy allegedly pushed her to the ground, straddled her, and put his hand on her throat.
In response, Hardy told police that Thorpe had poked him in the forehead, and he reacted by grabbing her arm and placing her on the bed.
Hardy’s NFL career ended in 2015 after he was arrested for domestic violence in 2014, which led to a suspension for breaching the league’s domestic violence policy.
He was convicted of assaulting a woman and making threats.
Initially, he was suspended for ten games, which later reduced to four. During his career, he appeared in 75 games, spending time with the Panthers and Cowboys, and recorded 40 sacks.
After football, he transitioned to martial arts and boxing, with his last boxing match occurring in 2024, which ended in a loss.
