A hard-working single mother who lost her son suddenly was “blessed” with a gravestone, groceries and a new car by a generous “Secret Santa” in eastern Idaho.
east idaho news team I was surprised Theresa just lost her 21-year-old son to an asthma attack this week while working at a nursing home in Rexburg.
Teresa seemed shocked to see anchor Nate Eaton enter the venue with a camera crew for what she thought was just a business meeting. She was even more shocked when he handed her a $1,000 grocery store gift card.
“Oh my god…that's amazing,” she said in disbelief.
She was even more shocked when Eaton showed her a check for another $1,000.
“Oh my god. Thank you… thank you so much. Oh my god, I feel so blessed,” said the grieving mother.
Eaton then gave her a gift certificate for her son's headstone, but she was having trouble buying it.
Teresa immediately put her hand on her chest and smiled, “Thank you so much.”
“Pick whatever you want for his grave, and Secret Santa will pay for it,” Mr. Eaton told her.
“We're going to get you back to work, but before we do, we'd like to give you one more gift,” he said, then dropped the biggest surprise.
A Honda CR-V SUV was waiting outside for Teresa to replace her old car, which had 215,000 miles on it.
“Oh my God. This is – my goodness. I'm so blessed,” Teresa said. “Thank you, Secret Santa. Thank you for the headstone. It means so much to me. Thank you for the car. Thank you for the groceries. I love you.”
