Aussie Groom’s Vows Spark Mixed Reactions Online

An Australian groom has stirred up quite the conversation on social media after he dropped an F-bomb during his wedding vows, which he dedicated to his stunning bride.

James Hachem, the entrepreneur behind the skincare brand Alya Skin and clothing line Sasha Therese, tied the knot with social media influencer Antonia Apostolou in June at a lavish Italian ceremony.

The wedding, shared on both of their social media platforms, was a grand affair—perhaps even a bit over the top. Antonia looked radiant in a classic white gown, complete with a breathtaking veil, while James donned a sharp black-and-white suit.

The couple’s heartfelt moments from the ceremony made their way to TikTok, with Antonia sharing a snippet of their vows. She captioned the video humorously, saying, “Australia in the middle of an elegant Italian wedding.”

Hachem, who was featured on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list in 2021, seemed to find himself a bit flustered during his vows. In a moment of confusion, he exclaimed, “F-K I don’t think she looks insane?” eliciting laughter from the guests.

Antonia, who has already adopted Hachem as her last name on social media, was seen chuckling at her groom’s unexpected statement, while the audience erupted in applause and cheers.

This seven-word quip quickly gained traction online, amassing over 500,000 views. Some viewers found his cheeky humor to be a highlight of the event. Comments ranged from praising the moment as “Gold” to others saying, “You’ve married the right guy.” One individual remarked, “The best moment,” while another observed, “It was a bit cute.”

One comment expressed uncertainty, saying, “I think this will be a red flag, but it’s strange because I like it too.” In a different sentiment, someone noted the cultural divide, suggesting that the use of the word might be more acceptable among Australians.

Conversely, not everyone was pleased with Hachem’s choice of words. Critics pointed out that it disrupted the elegance of the ceremony. Comments included “It ruined a classy moment,” and “I’ll die of embarrassment,” with some asserting that the moment showcased how “money can’t buy class.” A few others labeled it as “vulgar” and noted it felt disrespectful, particularly in front of the bride’s family.
