New Activist Group Raises Over $700,000 Amid ICE Raids

A newly established activist organization, Save America Movement, has generated more than $700,000 to support its “mobile-responsive team” during recent ICE raids, where agents encountered violent incidents.

The intent of the group is to provide real-time surveillance of ICE activities. Their fundraising campaign aims to equip a team of cameras, pastors, lawyers, veterans, and community members to record these events. As of Monday, the group’s fundraising efforts had reached $724,395, a significant increase from previously noted amounts, rising past an initial goal of $500,000.

The launch of their initiative, including political advertisements and social media outreach, aligns with their goal of raising $1 million to combat ICE actions. There seems to be a strong emphasis on mobilizing community support against what they describe as aggressive enforcement tactics.

On June 18, the organization’s executive committee will include notable figures such as Democrats and prominent activists, suggesting a blend of political backgrounds aimed at unifying various factions under their cause. This committee is expected to address issues like immigration enforcement and community welfare, particularly in light of recent protests against budget provisions related to these topics.

Officials from the Department of Homeland Security have reported a surge in physical incidents involving ICE agents, with attacks noted to be almost seven times more frequent than in the previous year. This uptick in violence has accompanied protests and riots across the country, raising questions about the balance between enforcement and community safety.

Save America Movement’s mission is to tackle what they describe as detrimental practices by ICE. They aim to shed light on these issues, all while navigating the complex landscape of political activism in an increasingly polarized environment.
