A gun store owner in Arizona reached out to the FBI for help regarding recent firearm purchases connected to a list of nearly 20 individuals. This came as the search for Nancy Guthrie entered its third week.
Phillip Martin, who co-owns Armor Bearer Arms in Tucson, shared with Fox News that FBI agents showed up at his store with a detailed list containing photos and names of about 18 to 24 people.
According to Martin, he requested to check if any of those individuals had made firearm purchases at his store over the previous year.
“The agent provided me with a list and wanted to know if any of these people had bought guns in the last year, asking if he could assist me in entering them into my system,” Martin recalled.
Initially, Martin felt a bit unsure about the request but ultimately agreed, driven by concern for Guthrie’s family.
“I felt for the family. I was open to helping in any way possible to assist them in their search,” he stated.
Martin explained that each last name enters the store’s electronic system, and relevant information would pop up if that person made a purchase.
However, he noted that none of the names matched any recent purchases of firearms.
He also mentioned that the agent indicated investigators would continue to visit other gun stores to check if anyone on the list had recently bought weapons.
On Tuesday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos refuted claims that officials had narrowed down suspects to a select few dozen individuals.
In an interview with Fox News, Nanos denied that the investigation was focusing on any specific group.
When asked about reports suggesting that around 40 people were identified as potential suspects, Nanos responded, “That’s not true.”
“We haven’t limited our focus beyond examining some pieces of evidence to locate this individual,” he clarified.
