Investigation Underway in Central Mexico Murders

Authorities in central Mexico are looking into the heinous killings of ten individuals, including a baby just 20 months old, allegedly carried out by cartel gunmen. Reportedly, these murders were in response to a gunman’s family forcing him into a drug rehab center, from which he subsequently escaped.

The tragic event unfolded early on Sunday at a ranch near Tehuitzingo, in Puebla state. Initial reports indicate that a group of armed men arrived at the ranch, tied up several family members along with three workers, and proceeded to execute them. They fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. The deceased included a very young infant, and several minors were also among the victims.

Following the attack, the Puebla Attorney General’s Office clarified that the murders were targeted and not necessarily connected to rivalry among criminal organizations. Information suggests the violence stemmed from a man named Jose Alfredo “N”, whose family had committed him to a rehabilitation facility before he managed to escape.

This brutal attack appears to be a form of revenge due to the gunman’s family seeking help for him.

These killings come amid a significant surge in violence across central Mexico. On Monday morning, another shooting incident resulted in the death of one man and left a woman injured in a nearby town. Authorities have chosen not to disclose which drug cartels are involved, and efforts to control the rising violence in the area have been largely ineffective.
