Gunmen opened fire on a crowd in Philadelphia on Wednesday evening in what authorities said was a targeted shooting, wounding seven victims, including a 16-year-old girl.

According to Philadelphia police, a shootout broke out in the 2800 block of North Bumbly Street around 6:15 p.m. and the gunmen are on the run.

“The perpetrator intentionally fired into the crowd and it is possible that someone in the crowd was the target,” Philadelphia Police Capt. Scott Small told reporters at the scene.

All seven victims, aged between 16 and 47, remain in hospital in stable condition. FOX29 Philadelphia report.

“The trunk was secured with yellow tape or plastic, and that information was broadcast over the police radio,” Small said of the vehicle. “There were also several civilian surveillance cameras in the neighborhood, so hopefully those additional cameras captured something that would be helpful to the investigation into the shooting.”
